Oxy-fuel is almost always quoted by feel, with a €/metre figure inherited from years ago, because preheat time and gas consumption are hard to estimate by hand. Here they are calculated: every pierce starts with its preheat time according to thickness and steel grade, cutting advances at your torch's real speed, and oxygen and fuel are counted by flow rate and minute of flame. On 20, 40 or 80 mm plate, that difference is what separates a profitable job from a lost one.
What the calculation takes into account
Preheat per pierce
Every hole and every start adds its heating time by thickness and material. On parts with many pierces this is the item most often underestimated by hand.
Gases by real flow rate
Cutting oxygen, heating oxygen and propane/acetylene counted by litre and minute of flame, at your supplier's price.
Kerf and edge quality
Kerf width and machining allowance feed into nesting, so the plate you buy is the plate you need.
Multi-torch and heavy plate
Large plate formats, several torches in parallel and real reuse of offcuts from the previous plate.
AI reads the drawing. Mathematics sets the price.
We use artificial intelligence to understand what you give us: a hand sketch, a photo of the part, a PDF drawing. To calculate the price we never use AI. Cost comes from a deterministic engine using the real geometry and physics of your shop: cut length measured along the contour, your machine's feed rates and accelerations, lead-ins and pierces, real nesting yield, gases, consumables, hourly cost, bending and finishing.
What that means in practice: the same drawing always returns the same price, you can show a customer where every euro comes from, and nothing is ever made up. With machines and materials properly configured, deviation from real shop cost stays under 1%.

Frequently asked questions
Does it work for very thick plate?
Yes. Oxy-fuel is exactly where thickness-driven calculation matters: speed and preheat are set per thickness band and steel grade, and the price follows on its own at 15 mm or at 150 mm.
Can I have oxy-fuel and laser in the same account?
Yes, and in the same quote. Each line is calculated with its own engine and machine, and the customer gets a single PDF.
What if I do not know my torch gas consumption?
You start from reference values by thickness and then adjust with your real figures. Changing flow rate or gas price recalculates every future quote.
